or if you have any comments please don't hesitate to contact us | | HOMECOMING SCOTLAND Everyone arriving at Scotland's main airports is greeted by a picture of three members of Arbroath Royal British Legion Pipe Band jumping in the air, with their more restrained colleagues in the background.The images were launched in January to promote a year-long celebration of national achievements. The events were timed to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns.
Homecoming has been widely backed by politicians and tourist groups as a way to boost visitor numbers during the coming year.
The picture taken at the World Championships in 2005 shows band members Stephen Russell, David Braidwood and Michael Simpson leaping in the air with other band members in the background.
| | CEILIDH - November 2008 The band held there annual "knees up" for members, family and friends on at the Meadowbank Inn, Arbroath. The pipeband kicked of the proceedings by playing a medley of tunes which was warmly appreciated by all. Music for the dancing came fae a braw wee band, "The Roselea Sound" Everybody had a great time, with a few pounds jigged off on the dance floor. The annual Cielidh is also the occasion when we present our "in house" trophies for the band members who have shown the most improvement over the year. This year the trophies were awarded to: Morst Improved Drummer - Dave Weir Most Improved Piper - Alistair Neil Most Improved Learner Drummer - Stacy McLean Most Improved Learner Piper - Lewis Smith There was a special prize for the bands "best trophy hunter" (we actually had to give her something to stop her from taking the HUFF) and the winner was (drrrrrum roll). | | REMEMBRANCE SUNDA Y 2008 On a cold and windy day, Arbroath RBLS Pipe Band led the British Legion remembrance day parades to and from the War Memorials at Arbroath and Carnoustie. As a tribute to the victims of war, Pipe Major Mike Thain played the haunting lament Flowers "O" the Forest at at both services. | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
