Join Us

Join Us:

Arbroath RBLS Pipe Band is always looking for experienced pipers and drummers to join the ranks of our grade 4A band. We would like to invite anyone who is interested in finding out more about joining us to come alone to one of our practices on Tuesday or Thursday evenings in the Legion Lodge Rooms, Lochlands Street, Arbroath between 7pm and 9pm.

Tuition:

We are a teaching band and have classes for beginners in both piping and drumming.  Our experienced tutors look for dedication and enthusiasm to learn with a view to increasing the band membership. Along with the commitment to learn, we hope that everyone who joins the learning classes enjoys the experience.

Learning both piping and drumming through the bands teaching programmes is fairly inexpensive and is open to all young and not so young, but we do suggest approximately 8 years is the minimum age for starting.

What is Required To Start?

 Piping

We encourage everyone who wants to learn pipes to purchase their own practice chanter. Advice on where these can be bought will be given by the tutors at the class (they can be purchased for approximately £25 - £30 - but they can last a lifetime). Music etc. is issued by the band as part of the teaching programme.

The learning class for piping is held on a Monday evening in the British Legion Clubrooms, Helen Street, Arbroath (upstairs hall) between 7.15pm and 9pm. If anyone is interested in finding out more, please contact Morag McKenzie on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Drumming

To learn drumming all you require is a pair of sticks and a practice pad. Advice on where these can be purchased will by given by the tutors.

The learning class for drumming is held on a Thursday evening in the Legion Lodge Rooms, Lochlands Street, Arbroath from 7.15pm - 9pm.

Support Us

There are many ways to be a supporter of the band; you don't need to be a playing member. We have a dedicated fund raising committee who enjoy organising events to raise funds for the band, and we are always looking for new recruits to join us. We also look for volunteers with an enthusiasm for pipe bands to lend a hand with the many tasks that are involved in supporting the band.
